TPE
Gel
Most insoles that claim to be made from gel are actually made from
thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). Thermoplastic elastomers are basically
plastics that have been made soft and elastic through a complex chemical
process. Thermoplastic elastomers are inexpensive and easy to form
but they are not particularly soft or shock absorbent because their
compression and expansion rate is low. This is evident in the fact
that most TPE gel insoles need to have dropped out (or depressed)
forms such as hexagon patterns or S shaped ridges cast into the bottom
of the insole to allow the gel to bounce and absorb shock.

Super
Soft Silicone Gel
By comparison the Pedifix GelStep Silicone Gel Insoles made from 100%
pure medical grade silicone have a much greater compression and expansion
rate than TPE gel. This means that pure 100% medical grade silicone
gel insoles feel much softer and don’t need dropped out (or
depressed) areas to make up for an inherent lack of cushioning properties. |
The Pedifix GelStep Silicone
Gel Insoles have and additional cushioning feature that increases
their comfort and shock absorbent capacity. The blue spots at the
ball of the foot and the heel are an even softer silicone gel that
provides extra cushioning for the high impact areas of the feet.

The
Top Cover
The Pedifix GelStep 100% Medical Grade Silicone Gel Insoles are covered
with a soft nylon fabric weave. Silicone gel by its nature is tacky.
Getting your foot in a shoe with an uncovered silicone gel insole
can be tricky because your sock or stocking will tend to stick to
the gel insole. The nylon top cover eliminates this problem because
it provides a smooth surface between the silicone gel and your sock
or stocking. Your feet will slide easily in and out of your shoes.
Also, the nylon top cover is treated with an antimicrobial spray to
reduce bacteria growth which can lead to foot odor. Back

The Pedifix GelStep 100%
Medical Grade Silicone Gel Insoles are not arch supports but they
do have mild anatomical curves in the arch and around the heel that
add to the overall comfort of the insoles.

The perforated holes in
the The Pedifix GelStep 100% Medical Grade Silicone Gel Insoles are
breathing holes that help to promote air flow through the insole and
through your shoe.

Cleaning
Instructions
The Pedifix GelStep 100% Medical Grade Silicone Gel Insoles can be
hand washed in cold water with liquid soap and air dried as often
as necessary.
