| Varus / valgus
heel wedges can be used to reduce pronation and supination by angling
the calcaneus (heel bone) either medially or laterally and when standing,
walking or running. Technically, these varus / valgus heel wedges
can alter joint loading and actually decrease the loading on the different
components of both the ankle knee and hip joint and help to decrease
pain in these areas. If you plan to use these varus valgus heel wedges for treating supination, check with your doctor or podiatrist first. Many people tend to incorrectly self-diagnose symptoms of supination. | The heel wedges
are made from injection molded PVC which is firm yet flexible and
extremely durable. They will not compress or flatten with use the
way foam heel wedges (sometimes called Walk Correctors) do. |
These
varus / valgus heel wedges are sold in pairs and come in two sizes,
Small and Large and in two levels of correction, 6 degrees (1/4",
6mm) and 9 degrees (3/8", 9mm).

| These varus
/ valgus heel wedges have a unique design that was based upon recommendations
from orthotists and orthopedic surgeons. What makes these heel wedges
unique is their dual slope design. Typical varus / valgus heel wedges
have only one diagonal slope which starts from the outside edge of
the heel wedge and ends at a midway point under the heel. These varus
/ valgus heel wedges have a dual slope design. This design supports
the entire heel on the angled wedge complete from the medial to lateral
side (or vise versa) while gently tapering forward from the wedge
area to thin beveled front edge. This design is not only more comfortable
but applies a more corrective angle to the foot than typical heel
wedges do. |

| Varus
/ valgus heel wedges can be use by themselves or in conjunction
with a pair of arch supports to increase the level of support. If
your shoes have removable insoles you can place the varus / valgus
heel wedges under the insoles. If you are using the heel wedges
with arch supports then put them under the heel of the arch supports
to get the most comfortable fit. By using the heel wedges with arch
supports you are effectively “Posting” the heel of the
arch supports. If your doctor told you to use an arch supports with
a posted heel you now have many more options of arch supports to
choose from.

If you are
currently using an arch support with a posted heel but have had trouble
with the arch support because it isn’t comfortable, doesn’t
give you enough support or wears out to quickly you can now select
from any of the arch supports on our website and use these varus /
valgus heel wedges to add posting to it.

| Varus
/ valgus heel wedges
are not intended to
be used to adjust or account for uneven wear on the soles of your
shoes. If the outside edge of your shoes is wearing out get new shoes
or take them to a cobbler. |
